Private International Law or Conflicts of Law is the area of law that applies when individuals of or located in different jurisdictions inter- or transact with each other.
The private international law rules and principles provide answers to complex questions such which court is competent to resolve a cross-border dispute; which law the court will apply and how an ensuing decision of the court is going to be recognised and enforced in a foreign jurisdiction. The answers can be difficult to arrive at, but they are crucial to allow individuals and businesses to predict with appropriate certainty the outcome of their inter- and transactions.
Grotius Chambers can offer private international law legal and policy advice. It also can provide dispute resolution services, including in international commercial arbitration as well as cross-border litigation.
